Sermon Notes Luke 10:25-37 (AMP) 25 And then a certain lawyer arose to try (test, tempt) Him, saying, Teacher, what am I to do to inherit everlasting life [that is, to partake of eternal salvation in the Messiah’s kingdom]? 26 Jesus said to him, What is written in the Law? How do you read it? 27 And he replied, You must love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself. 1 John 3:17 (AMP) But if anyone has this world’s goods (resources for sustaining life) and sees his brother and fellow believer in need, yet closes his heart of compassion against him, how can the love of God live and remain in him? James 1:27 (AMP) External religious worship [religion as it is expressed in outward acts] that is pure and unblemished in the sight of God the Father is this: to visit and help and care for the orphans and widows in their affliction and need, and to keep oneself unspotted and uncontaminated from the world. 1 John 3:10 (CEV) You can tell God's children from the devil's children, because those who belong to the devil refuse to do right or to love each other. Acts 10:38 (CEV) God gave the Holy Spirit and power to Jesus from Nazareth. He was with Jesus, as he went around doing good and healing everyone who was under the power of the devil. Psalms 103:6 (CEV) For all who are mistreated, the Lord brings justice. Ephesians 5:1-2 (CEV) 1 Do as God does. After all, you are his dear children. 2 Let love be your guide. Christ loved us and offered his life for us as a sacrifice that pleases God. Deuteronomy 14:29 (CEV) The Levites have no land of their own, so you must give them food from the storehouse. You must also give food to the poor who live in your town, including orphans, widows, and foreigners. If they have enough to eat, then the Lord your God will be pleased and make you successful in everything you do. Exodus 22:21-22 (CEV) 21 Do not mistreat or abuse foreigners who live among you. Remember, you were foreigners in Egypt. 22 Do not mistreat widows or orphans. |
