Sermon Notes

Psalm 23:6 (KJV) Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.

I. GOD WATCHES US

Psalm 145:15 -20 (NIV) The eyes of all look to you and you give them their food at the proper time. 16You open your hand and satisfy the desires of every living thing. 17The LORD is righteous in all his ways and loving towards all he has made. 18The LORD is near to all who call on him; to all who call on him in truth. 19He fulfills the desires of those who fear him; he hears their cry and saves them. 20The LORD watches over all who love him, but all the wicked he will destroy.

II. GRACE IS WORKING

Psalms 103:2-5, 10 (MSG) O my soul, bless God, don’t forget a single blessing! 3He forgives your sins – every one. He heals your diseases – every one. 4He redeems you from hell – saves your life! He crowns you with love and mercy – a paradise crown. 5 He wraps you in goodness – beauty eternal. He renews your youth – you’re always young in his presence. 10 He doesn’t treat us as our sins deserve, nor pay us back in full for our wrongs.

III. ETERNITY IS WELCOMING ME

I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.

Revelation 21:5 (NLT) And the one sitting on the throne said, “Look I am making all things new!” And then he said to me, “Write this down for what I tell you is trustworthy and true.”

Psalm 148:4 (NLT) Praise him, skies above! Praise him, vapors high above the clouds!

2 Corinthians 12:2 (NLT) I was caught up into the third heaven fourteen years ago.

Hebrews 11:8-10 (NLT) It was by faith that Abraham obeyed when God called him to leave home and go to another land that God would give him as his inheritance. He went without knowing where he was going. 9 And even when he reached the land God promised him, he lived there by faith – for he was like a foreigner, living in a tent. And so did Isaac and Jacob, to whom God gave the same promise. 10 Abraham did this because he was confidently looking forward to a city with eternal foundations, a city designed and built by God.

1) GOD IS THERE

Revelation 21:2-3, 22 (NLT) And I saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven like a beautiful bride prepared for her husband. 3I heard a loud shout from the throne saying, “Look, the home of God is now among his people! He will live with them and they will be his people. God himself will be with them. 22 No temple could be seen in the city for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple.

Acts 17: 28 (NLT) For in him we live and move and exist. As one of your own poets says, “We are his offspring”.

2 Peter 1:4 (NLT) And by that same mighty power, he has given us all of his rich and wonderful promises. He has promised that you will escape the decadence all around you caused by evil desires and that you will share in his divine nature.

2) THERE IS GLORY

Revelation 21:11, 23 (NLT) It was filled with the glory of God and sparkled like a precious gem, crystal clear like jasper. 23 And the city has no need of sun or moon for the glory of God illuminates the city and the Lamb is its light.

3) THERE IS CREATURELINESS

4) THERE ARE PEOPLE

Revelation 21:3 (NLT) I heard a loud shout from the throne saying, “Look, the home of God is now among his people! He will live with them and they will be his people. God himself will be with them”.

Revelation 21:24 (NLT) The nations of the earth will walk in its light and the rulers of the world will come and bring their glory to it.

5) THERE IS CREATIVITY

Genesis 1:28 (NLT) God blessed them and told them, “Multiply and fill the earth and subdue it. Be masters over the fish and birds and all the animals”.

6) THERE IS LIFE

Revelation 22: 1-2 (NLT) And the angel showed me a pure river with the water of life, clear as crystal flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb, 2 coursing down the center of the main street. On each side of the river grew a tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit with a fresh crop each month. The leaves were used for medicine to heal the nations.

7) THERE IS HIS FACE

Revelation 22:4 (NLT) And they will see his face and his name will be written on their foreheads.

Exodus 33:20 (NLT) “But you may not look directly at my face for no one may see me and live.”

1 John 3:2 (NLT) Yes dear friends, we are already God’s children and we can’t even imagine what we will be like when Christ returns. But we do know that when he comes we will be like him, for we will see him as he really is.
